This is one of those things that CAN be racist but u can't know for SURE the intention of the author who drew this.

As the caption below the image says, this picture is mocking that chimp who killed a woman recently, only this picture has a caption linking Obama to the stimulus bill.

People need to relax, just because someone draws a chimp doesnt give a person whose been said to look like a chimp the right to ignor the 1st amendment - thou shall speak think and express freely

a chimp is a way of depicting Obama as a clown, that's all i'm certain of from this picture

We can all agree that the cartoon was in bad taste. If the cartoonist wanted to make a point, he should at least written "Crongress" around the chimp's neck, or played safe, and drew a picture of a donkey instead. I don't think the racism lies in the drawing itself, but as one of my friends posted in another forum, the racism more or less is in the fact that NYP, decided to publish the drawing.

He we have the first black POTUS, with his first major Precidential policy, a policy that will no doubt define his Precidency for years to come, that is seen by many as being dehumanize as a chimpanzee, and being shot to death by white police officers.

So, many people see this ( whether they're right or wrong-that is debatable) as a black man, who is a wild animal, being killed by civilized whites, who are saving America.
With the history of black males being depicted in such light, the NYP opened themsevles up for controversy with the drawing.

Again, it is very poor taste. Two points:
1. Our black president is half white.
2. On another tangent making the cop who shot the crazy ape look like an idiot was also poor taste. What was he supposed to do, be mauled like that poor woman?
