Does anyone know how long it takes to get your first EB check. I am very worried that it will take a long time. I have 3 more checks under the regular unemployment claim.
I don;t know if I am calling it the correct name - it would be the first extention.

Did you move out of the state after you started collected benefits. I am assuming you are collecting benefits from NJ.

Actually I moved out of state when my original unemployment ran out. I then received the notice about the extension. I would never realize how hard it is to get a job where I am.

We should all receive 20 weeks of benefits thanks to Obama. I do believe that in the next four or five months things will turn around. Hope all goes well for all of you. I am going to start my own business. I can't take this anymore.

In NJ the extensions are automatic. You should get a check within 3 weeks as rule of thumb.

FYI for NJ: The EB benefits for NJ will be extended from 13 weeks to 20 weeks. This will give all of us struggling to find a job an additional 7 weeks of benefits. Good luck to all!!

I am moving to Florida - so I guess I will be able to collect the first extensions, but not the EB that Obama put into effect as the State of Florida rejected that money.
Apparantly from what I am reading if the state you are moving to doesn;t participate in that program then you cannot collect benefits from NJ for that extension.

I have a quick question I just received EB packet today I was told it would be received after Apr. 9th. I claimed my last tier 2 on 4/16. I have been actively seeking work under accepting and applying for suitable work it states all critiera is met The JOB was both listed and offered in writing with WORKFORCE NJ So any work I seek outside of Workforce NJ such as craigslist, Newspapers, employers, who do not list under workforce NJ we can be disqualified for EB benefits? Sorry about this but I m confused, I can search Monster.com, yahoo jobs, jobs.com, craiglist but none of these count? Please help thank you

]I started tier 2 and hit my 1-year anniversary, time to re-file. I re-file and I get in the mail the paper as if I’m starting and new claim and not a continuation for tier 2 and the amount is lower. I called twice and was told that re-filing was the correct thing to do. I even went to unemployment and that said it was right to re-file and that’s how it’s done. Has this happened to anyone else?

The way I understand it, Workforce NJ is just one source for finding a job. You need to contact 3 different employers on 3 different days each week. Your best bet is to call UI because it really isn't clear on the NJ website. It doesn't make sense for them to limit everyone to only searching and accepting work from Workforce NJ.
