Default Safe Neighborhood w/ Good Elementary School near Princeton?

I'm planning to NJ to study at Princeton for my Ph.D. in a few years. If I was to start attending classes my daughter will be around 4-5 years old. I'm looking for an area that is safe to raise my child and also a good school district. I'm willing to commute to Princeton if that is the case.

20-30 min would be nice.

I'm looking for a nice suburb area, preferably north east.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm really clueless about NJ.

Princeton does provide housing for grad students. You can look at it here-

Princeton University Facilities - Apartment Life for Graduate Students 2008-2009

Princeton is a lovely, safe town and your child would attend the Princeton schools.

West Windsor, Plainsboro (both towns share the same school district). And Montgomery. All these 3 towns are right next to Princeton.
I agree with jerseyj - Princeton itself has a very good school district (although some part of the town is not as nice as it should be). Your child will go to school with your peer's children.

We live in Chesterfield, NJ. Beautiful neighborhood, only 10 miles from Princeton and great school system (ranks 9 on greatschools.net).
