Lost my main job and need to cut back. One obvious one is the cell phones.

I live up in Sussex Co. Can anyone say anthing good or bad about the service for any particular service?

My suspects are Tracfone, Net10, and Virgin Mobile.

The other providers seem to either want 25 cents a minute or have terrible "pay by the day" plans. I need 10 minutes per day for 30 days not unlimited service for 10 days a month.

You need to price them out but IIRC last time I looked Virgin Mobile was cheaper then TracFone.

Also look at Verizon.
Someone I know just got one and has been paying $30 per month and has been texting and talking to people on Verizon. How it's been so cheap for them I do not know. When my daughter had it it was more expensive.

I see Net10 offers 10 cents a minute and with the purchase of a phone 300 minutes is included. Been thinking of getting one too just for emergencies.

I would be interested in this also. We right now have Verizon and after tax, and txt message, it comes out to $50-55 a month. I know it is not THAT much, but the goal is to cut this in half.

We are trying to cut down by getting a $8 a month SkypeIN/Out plan for the house, and try to cut the cell down to low $20 a month. We'd like to retain the ability to TXT. I am thinking a Virgin Mobile pre-paid plan with 200 txts. Does anyone know if or what kind of taxes apply to pre-paid cell minutes? That would be $25 a month before tax for 200 anytime minutes, no 'per day' charges, and 200 txts.

If you have T-Mobile in your area, their T-Mobile To Go is a great option. After an initial minute purchase of $100, calls and texts are .10 per minute. Then, renewals come up Once per year and can be made for as little at $10. 'Pay by day' is not required, although they have an "unlimited" option that is, so make sure you have the right plan.

Joe moving: There are no taxes charged above prepaid calling rates.
