I have the same odds of winning as you do....and I don't play the lottery.

Good luck.

If it wasn't for lottery winnings being considered income for Federal tax purposes that's almost worth betting on. Well there's also the chance of having to share the winnings with someone having the same numbers.

Ignoring those two things it's a 96 cent return on the dollar, which though being a losing bet due to the weighting at the top worth a small bet for any gambling man.

Except a gambling man doesn't ignore those two things, the "cash payout" would need to be $222 million (still ignoring sharing the winnings) - it's currently $138 million.

(my numbers are going to be slightly off, I always forget which way odds are written in the US)

Odds of winning this lottery (on a $1 bet): 1 in 176,000,000
Odds of being struck by lightning in any given year: 1 in 400,000

I played Friday and clearly lost lol.

I don't play on a regular basis, but once in a while it's fun to be in it to win it.
