Golden Nugget purchased by Knoebel's http://www.coaster101.com/images/M_images/printButton.png (broken link) http://www.coaster101.com/images/M_images/emailButton.png (broken link) Written by Administrator Tuesday, 27 January 2009 02:08 Amusement Today has revealed who really bought the now-defunct Golden Nugget coaster from Morey's Pier.

Though we at Amusement Today have known all along the identity of the Golden Nugget's new owner, we honored a request to keep the information classified until both the Morey organization and the new owner were ready to release details.

Hopefully, the reborn Golden Nugget is as good as the original. Erm, though, I never rode Golden Nugget before. In fact, I had no idea about its existence until the ride was slated to be dismantled.

Looking forward to that new "pier" coaster at Morey's! The blueprint looks interesting although, I can't really judge it yet from that.
(Although, it would be nice to have a good amusement ride up here in the north....)

They're looking at putting in a huge wooden coaster that spans 2 piers. Not sure how that's going to work.

I miss the old haunted houses at the shore (Brigantine Castle/Castle Dracula etc.. Morey's was also looking at putting a haunted ghost ship/lighthouse kind of deal on Mariner's Landing, but not sure where that is headed.

Knoebels probably wants to get that Flying Turns ride up and running before doing something with the GN. They've been trying for 2 or 3 years now.

I loved that ride as a kid.. hopefully Knoebels will do something cool with it like a coal mine, or something.

I dont think you need Facebook to look at this link, the foundation is poured for the "Black Diamond" they're going with a coal mine theme, apparently . Ride will be up for 2011 according to Kosmo

Morey's also has something going where the mini golf was on Mariner's Landing pier.

One of the new concepts in development is a new "haunted house" attraction for Mariner's Landing, which could feature a ghost ship and/or lighthouse theme. On display was some of the art they were using for inspiration, as well as a rough sketch of the proposed attraction facade.
I hope that's still the case. Brigantine Castle and Castle Dracula used to be awesome.

Gotta love that Knoebel's!!! We visited there several years ago and were absolutely amazed at the cool rides and the laid back atmosphere there.

On an interesting side note, the kiddie whip ride I used to run on the Pt. Pleasant Boardwalk now resides in operation at Knoebel's.
