When were the best homes built in NJ?
With respect to the quality of the materials used and craftsmanship, when were the best homes built in NJ?
I've seen good examples in every period from the 60-90's. I've yet to be impressed with anything in the 00's.

Conventional wisdom says that anything built in the 30s during the depression is of very high quality and craftsmanship.

with regards to the structure, I'd say anything built between 1909 - 1933...
with regards to the plumbing & electric, the newer the better...

Pre 1980 or anything built by a spot builder / spec. builder. I would never buy a development home!

My house was built in the 1950s, it's built like a fortress. When I bought the house, I hired an inspector who specializes in older homes. He told me that the highest standard for homebuilding was in 1950s due to the quality of materials used and the workmanship and standards that existed then.
