Thats already been done. McGreevey instituted the cosmetic surgery tax in the same bill that taxed health club memberships. He also taxed surgery centers, so if you had plastic surgery in a surgery center the state made out pretty well.
Addressing health care costs is critical. Federal, state, and local governments are now, and will in the future, drown in health care costs under medicare, medicaid, drug benefit plans, and other programs. Employers are already crushed by excessive health care costs. Social security is nowhere near as big a problem as health care. It's about time that someone thought about the future.

Well.....I disagree........many countries offer health care and seem to be doing quite well with it.....such as Canada and many of the European and Scandanivan countries.....their government health programs may not be prefect but then then don't have a 12 billion dollar a month war to pay for either. Its not the health care cost its inept government thats dragging us down.

my health insurer (whom I pay handsomely) makes me pick from a list of doctors...
my health insurer (whom I pay handsomely) tells me which prescriptions they will allow me to get...
my health insurer (whom I pay handsomely) tells my doctor which tests he/she can order...
I could go on, but you get the idea
