Raven: I am 44. If I can do it ( I am a big baby)then you can too! Believe me...its the prep stuff that is a pain in the ass!! not the actual day of the procedure!! That is actually fun. I will actually get to rest for once...and be sedated lol...in happy land! LOL>>>>You sht your pants off the day before but then you have the procedure (they give you twilight meds)and you never feel anything!! They give you an IV then you feel a slight burning or warm sensation and off to la la land....
For some reason when I had one done last time I made the nurses and docs crack up and had some of them rolling. Mind you , I do not know to this day what the helll I said and the nurses wouldn't tell me. LOL!!When it's over you get cranberry juice and cookies and wait an hr.. then have someone drive you home!

I haven't had a colonoscopy but I have seen Michael Godberg in Edison. He is very, kind, compassionate and makes the effort for you to feel comfortable.
I'm not sure but he might have an office in Old Bridge too.

I like to work in the endoscopy suit 1 or 2 days a week to break up the monotony of the OR. It sounds like you have a few rec.s already. If Essex County is more convenient for you I could give you a few names. Let me know.
As far as the procedure itself, it is about as benign as you can get. Since it does not entail any cutting (like an operation) we only need to use 1 drug to keep you asleep. This drug (propofol) gets cleared from the body very quickly, so you are awake and alert within 10 minutes of the end of the procedure. We dont need to use any pain medications so people rarely ever get nauseous afterwards. At the end of the procedure when the patient is waking up, they often ask "When are we going to get started."

I know someone that just went through a nightmare after his tollihole poke. They ruptured his intestine... he was in the hospital for 2 weeks - he still has issues so make sure you use someone with "experience"... don't let them give you the new guy.
