Default Halfway point between Florham Park and UPenn

Hi all,

I have just been accepted to a Master's program at UPenn, and my husband would be working in Florham Park. What would be a good halfway point from which we could both commute? Would Princeton be best?

Thanks in advance. I'm from North Carolina and wanting to get a feel for the area.

Congratulations. Princeton would be one halfway place. His commute upwards will be 45 miles though - and assuming driving there is traffic. If he could drop you at the train station (like Princeton Junction), you could then take the NEC Line to Trenton, then SEPTA to reach 30th St., walk to U. Penn or take the trolley from there. It might be quite a bit, but it depends on how many days of the week you need to be in Philly.

Flemington might not be such a bad place, as an alternative. Equally easy access to 31 headed south to 95, and 202, which hooks you up to 287.

I'm afraid not KBK. The closest rail transit to Lambertville or Flemington is in West Trenton.

Is it even sensible to think about doing Princeton to Philly, assuming I have to go 3-5 a week? It will be about 1.5 hrs one way, no?

Not quite 1.5 hours. Probably a little over an hour, depending on where you are going. Once you get past the Girard Ave exit on I-95, it backs up after about 7 am.

I would do what subwayfan suggested. The traffic will be killer in the morning. train is the way to go! the blue line anf the or the trolley will take you straight to penn campus from 30 street station. Stop by pizza rustica and get the sausage and pepperoni. There's also a crepe truck on spruce near the hospital. I got a bacon, egg, and cheese crepe. ah the memories.

If I were you guys, I'd go closer to Florham Park and make your train commute longer. You can get a ton of reading/work done on the train, while your husband I assume will not be able to do that in the car. The area around FP gets so congested if you don't start your commute early enough...his drive every day from Flemington or Princeton is going to be rough at best. I can't say which trains you'd have to take - but I think shorter drive/longer train is the way to go.

Good luck!
