Hello everyone,
Thank you for all your suggestions.
My job is in Bloomfield, NJ. We are a family of two - my wife and I - both 29 yrs old. We are moving from Ann Arbor, Michigan to NJ.
We want to first go for 1 Bedroom apt., get to know the area... then go for buying. Our budget for renting is around $1800-$2000 (including all utilities) + cable/phone/internet.
Based on our initial search we have finalized following areas/communities. Your suggestions and/or opinions are all welcome. It would greatly help us! Thanks in advance.
If you have any more suggestions with areas and/or communities to explore, please let us know. But we would really like to know about our choices.
1. Wayne, NJ (community: 2 Hazen Court, Wayne, NJ 07470)
2. Cedar Grove, NJ (community: 146 Tierney Drive, Cedar Grove, NJ 07009)
3. West Orange, NJ (community: 200 Mount Pleasant Avenue, West Orange, NJ 07052)
4. Lake Hopatcong, NJ (community: 1 Gerhardt Road, Lake Hopatcong, NJ 07849)
5. Hamburg, NJ (community: 45 Burlington Court, Hamburg, NJ 07419)
6. Spring field, NJ (community 1: 100 Stonehill Rd, Springfield, NJ 07081 and community 2: 4 Forest Drive, Springfield, NJ 07081)
7. Rockaway, NJ (community: 10 Mt. Pleasant Avenue, Rockaway, NJ 07801)
8. Parlin, NJ (20 Pointe of Woods Dr. North, Parlin, NJ 08859)
What is your pick out of these 9 listed above? the best one out of the list? thanks

welcome to NJ
just from the perspective of commuting, 2 & 3 would be your best choices.

I didn't read your other thread, so I'm not sure what type of neighborhood you prefer.
even ignoring the commute time, 2 & 3 are still your best bets.
you might want to consider Secaucus, in either the Harmon Meadows or Harmon Cove developments (though those might go over your budget)

eliminate #5 and #8 from a commuting standpoint. #4 can be a painful drive depending on when you leave (height of rush hour). taking away #6 b/c of jerseyt's recommendation, you're left with the others. they are all decent towns. agree 2 and 3 are best from a commuting standpoint. #1 isn't bad either.

1 or 7 would be my recommendation. Both nice, suburbanish areas with decent schools.

I would go with Cedar Grove. Easiest commute, nice town. First choice for me would be Montclair.

2 or 3. It will make life easier, especially given commuting times. Both are very nice towns, though, and I absolutely adore WO.
