Recommendation for pediatrician in South Plainfield (Fanwood, Watchung: insurance, offices, best)

Dr. Anita Joseph on Park Ave in South Plainfield. She has been in practice a long time so she isn't a newbie MD. Personable and very interested in your kids. She treats you and the children like they are her only patients. You will love her! She handles everything herself. She even answers her own phone because she knows her patients and doesn't want people to get a recording or just a receptonist. I have never ever had a pediatrician like her. She knows her stuff and is very sensitive and caring.

Dr. Lin-Lan Tang in Warren or Watchung Pediatrics with offices in Fanwood and Warren. Very different practices but we found both to be top notch.

Dr. Tang is in practice by herself. Her office is "old-fashioned" and cant compete in swank with the new mega-practices...no official weekend or late hours BUT BUT BUT she is the best. She loves her patients, and I never had to wait longer than ten minutes on a weekend or at night to get a call back from her personally. A truly dedicated doctor and a hidden gem in my opinion.

Watchung Pediatrics is the complete opposite. They do have weekend and late hours. The thing I liked best about that practice is that they have walk-in hours every day at their Warren location. So...if your child wakes up with a sore throat and you don't want to wait it out, you can just head over. It can get crowded end of day, esp. on Friday - but it's a great option. Because of the drop-in hours, we tended to see someone new everytime we went. Everyone seemed very welcoming, good with kids, competent - but there wasn't an intimate relationship like we had with Dr. Tang.

BTW, we switched from Dr. Tang to WP strictly because of a job/insurance change.

Dr. Anita Joseph is my kids ped, and I would recommend her. She is very personable and I do believe she works until 7 or 8pm on Thursdays and has sick visits on Saturdays.
