This show is going to laughs, laughs and more laughs.

I agree with ur classifications. I imagined it would be set in central jersey to show more class, otherwise why call it "Jersey housewives"? Orange county is a county, Atlanta is a city or area, NY is manhattan. Everyone knows those distinct areas but New jersey is what people heard of on comedy central.

Actually, didn't the Sopranos live in Livingston? I could be wrong...only watched the show occasionally. I know Tony's shrink was supposed to be in Livingston.

Someone told me that some part of The Sopranos was based on the Boiardos, and the Boiardo mansion in in Livingston.

Actually, North Jersey is all mafia and Newark Airport.
Central Jersey is where all the characters from Kevin Smith movies live in the View Askewniverse.
South Jersey is all hicks. And the shore.

I'd like to know where in Central NJ is "class" exemplified? I think of North Jersey as having more "class". All the ritzy suburbs in Northern Bergen County, Morris County, Essex County, those towns that typically have really nice downtown areas.

Central NJ...the only "classy" parts of Central Jersey I can think of are parts of Monmouth County.

*By the way, I hate the word "class". In my experiences, the only people that use this word seriously are people that *have* no class, lol.

Tony Soprano lived in North Caldwell.

you clearly have no been to the Somerset Hills area. Bedminster, Bernardsville, Peapack Gladstone, Far Hills. Some of the wealthiest and ritziest communities I have ever seen. You should see the size of some of these immense mansions. Only a few places in North Jersey can compare, like Alpine and Saddle River. Somerset County is the wealthiest county in Jersey.

And believe me, these people are classy. They have parties on yachts, or at their summer homes on the Mediterranean coast. They're either old money or the father is some kind of a CEO. I border this area, I live in southern Morris County, and my town is considered affluent as well. I used to go to school with these people's kids, so that's how I know about their activities. I come from a modest family, so when the teacher asked me what I did over the summer, I would just say I hung out and went to the beach and stuff. And the kid next to me would say like, "Oh, we went to our house in Sardinia for two weeks, and then I went to my cousin's wedding on one of the Greek Isles. <-- It's insane.

So as you can see, Central Jersey tops out North Jersey. North Jersey is still very wealthy though. They have more of the nice small towns and boroughs with nice downtown areas. Central Jersey has large townships with sprawling acreages of land with huge mansions plopped in the center of all of them.

Of course I've been to those areas. I would actually consider those areas North Jersey. They are North of Route 78, which is sort of the definition of where North Jersey starts. It's all trivial, I suppose...but those areas (Bernardsville, Far Hills, etc) have more in common with Morris County than Central NJ towns.

Where I grew up (Cranford), is just below Route 78, but I consider it North Jersey. It's just outside Newark/Elizabeth, really close to Manhattan, and has more in common with North Jersey towns (everyone works in NYC, has nice downtown area, etc) than the sprawly, strip malliness of Central NJ (i.e., Middlesex, Mercer, etc).

Maybe you're right but somerset, princeton, windsor, north edison are my preferences. North jersey also has traffic and to much shopping like it's all vanity which steals character. They're basicly gems in the midst of paterson/newark/yonkers and hills/wilderness. I think people are starting to prefer the open newer central jersey - not to start a war between central and north. These little downtown streets are becoming a thing of the past. I don't imagine younger people are moving to these towns.

I still wonder if the 5 women perhaps being from Franklin Lakes area is the main reason why they chose this setting. Is housewives a reality show or more scripted?

The Johnson family of Johnson & Johnson lives in Far Hills, I believe. It's either Far Hills or Bedminster. John DeLorean's mansion was in Bedminster, now the property has become part of Donald Trump's golf course. A former executive in the pharmaceutical industry lives in my current town. We have a lot of corporate people, as well as a few celebrities.

Agreed!! I'm not trying to start a war either. New Jersey has a lot of rich towns that constantly rank among lists of the best places to live but different parts of New Jersey have different types of people. (Not everyone is the same I know this) but North Jersey wealth for the most part is in construction, waste management and food services. They pride themselves on being flashy and over the top. You are nobody unless you have a BMW or a Mercedes. I have friends from almost every part of New Jersey. I lived in Wayne, NJ before my parents moved and built a home in Basking Ridge, NJ. This is just my view from comparing friends from both North and Central NJ. I've had this view long before reading what these women do for a living and sure enough at least one of those occupations were mentioned in their bio's for the North Jersey women.

Central Jersey is just different it's alot of professionals, like lawyers, doctors, investment bankers, professors, CEO's and old money. (Google Doris Duke) The reason women from Central Jersey probably weren't used for this show is because 1. They never applied and were not interested because they thought it was tacky or 2. They were really boring and low key and there was nothing exciting or trashy to make a show out of.

I saw a preview of what's to come on a link on Bravo, one woman is going on a blind date with a guy she's never met in person after she had phone sex with him and another woman's son is going to the be the first one to finish college and go to law school while the other son has dreams of opening his own strip club. LOL! Like I said laughs, laughs and more laughs!!
