What Is Your Opinion Of Keansburg?
About a year and a half ago, we were in New Jersey to visit our son and his family. I had wanted them to take us to Keansburg so the grandkids could enjoy the rides and attractions I knew as a boy in the late 1950's, early 1960's. My parents used to rent a bungalo each summer, and I loved it there. But my daughter-in-law said it had gone downhill, so we didn't go.
Just the other day, I saw a video where they shot a segment for the "Soprano's" in Keansburg, and it looked nice to me. So I wonder if my daughter-in-law just "heard" the negative stuff from someone without actually going. What is the deal?

Hey Topster:
Keansburg has been a hot topic for awhile now.
I did a search and came up with this thread
http://www.city-data.com/forum/new-j...nsburg-nj.html
There are plenty of others.
My memory of Keansburg is going roller skating (70's) and the floor was warped and the records all skipped, lol!

Thanks for the link, Shanny. I'll check it out later. Since you have also been there, do you remember how the "Spook House" ride always had a "burnt" smell? Getting a paper "cone cup" of French Fries was a treat, (I always threw away the toothpick and used my fingers).
There were kiddie rides at both ends of the boardwalk; and I remember how thrilled we were when they put in two new rides. The helicopters and the turtle ride, LOL! The old catapillar ride was SO tacky, with that green burlap cover that came over halfway into the ride. And right next to the "Whip" was a ride they called the "Flying Coasters" where you "flew" over the water part of the time. Never saw a similar ride anywhere else I lived.
Dad always won us a prize at the "Kill The Cat" booth. And I chuckle in these days of PC that cartons of cigarettes were a prize back then.

It's fine to visit. The water park is actually quite good.
However, I wouldn't want to live there. It looks like plenty of sex offenders call it home.

I have to agree with you on that. Also a lot that live there have no teeth, lol

I live in the town you people are talking so negative about, and sadly it just proves that people judge things only on the negative. Did any of you ever pay attention to anything else except for what you have heard? Most likely not, because if you did you would know that this town is just like any other down, it has it's good as well as it's bad. And just to inform the two ignorant people who said that the people in this town have no teeth and that there are alot of sex offenders here. Try going further into town then just on the boardwalk and actually looking at people from this town instead of putting you head up in the air thinking your better then them. As for the sex offenders why don't you go online and go to the Megan's Law website and type in your town then mine, and then you come back and tell me what you actually learned. As for anyone else who thinks and talks negative about my town, please do us all a favor and stay out of our town. We don't want you here anyway, it is people like you that cause trouble in our town and fill our streets with your cars because your to cheap to pay for parking, and you use our beach and leave your garbage laying all over the place! We are tired of people talking trash about us, if you don't like our town then stay the H*LL out!

Keansburg is a dump. It is the armpit of the Eastern Monmouth County area.

Is there anything useful about Keansburg? It all seems to be negative conjecture or what you see from the boardwalk area. I need real information and not "It's a dump" etc.
