Default Carteret Park

Just what is going on with the park located parallel with Bernard Street in West Carteret. I was home a couple of years ago and it was a beautiful park with great soccer fields. Now it is fenced off with orange fencing and the beautiful green grass is all brown. I heard the land was contaminated. Is this true? What caused the contamination? If anyone knows what is going on let me know.

They just closed it for renovation. Carteret recieved grants from an open space fund to upgrade the basketball courts and the tennis courts. But they were hoping for another very large grant from the Green Acres grant program to do more. Since that is stalled they just stalled everything. Plans are to replace the stockade fence with a block wall and improve drainage which is why the basketball and tennis courts were nearly washed away.

to desertsun41: You obviously do not know the park I am referring to as their are not tennis courts where I am talking about. It would be impossible to build a block wall where all the orange fencing is as it is just on pieces of land not the whole park. Thanks for trying to answer but your answer does not pertain to the park I am referring to.

Oops. There are only 2 parks in Carteret. I sorta guessed by the one I knew was closed by asking my Mom. So it must be safe to say both are closed?

Ya got me then. Hopefully some one will have your answer.
Good day to ya.....
