When this project first made its public news break, I was looking forward very much to it. Not for the retail aspect as I don't care about clothing/fashion (which is kind of an over-kill to add more saturation of retail into the county). I also don't really care about the ski slope. I was looking forward to seeing if they had any brains of adding a water park into the place. We could really use one for the winter/spring. A flow rider without a water park? That's been echoing at the back of my mind. They state somewhere about a wave pool, but I'm going to play skeptic about it.
Having a new aquarium is nice and educational. A big movie theater and bowling alley will definitely bring in the crowds. I also love giant ferris wheels so I'm still kind of looking forward to that wheel. That thing is currently being built in Europe and is expected to be up by June. The foundations are already set in. (Just not looking forward to the giant Pepsi LED logo, but, I'll endure it. Hope the logo changes and not just stay on the Pepsi Globe.)
The "It's Sugar!" store in Atlantic City is small compared to the one in Myrtle Beach. So hopefully, the Xanadu branch is big.
I'm currently looking forward to Xanadu half-enthusiastic now because of Xanadu's financial situation. Since, they made majority of the building, they might as well finish the project with their non-rush approach. It looks very nice inside. I still wonder how that roller coaster would've looked if it wasn't for Teterboro's complaint that shot it down....

I thought they axed the big wheel. I didn't think that was a wise concept. Adds to the tacky factor too IMHO.
The indoor water park idea? I don't think that would be a good location for it. I heard one was going up indoors near a six flags but that was probably in Vegas or somewhere in the west.
I also read that a train was going to go very close to this.
I had started up a thread months ago on this topic when the sierra club was complaining.
People need to remember that this is not a taxpayer project. That does not make it any better but it is not something anyone could have literally voted on. Private funds. Private failure or success.

That's the indoor water park next to Six Flags Lake Darien in upstate NY.
We have two indoor water parks in NJ, but they both cater more for the Philly area people. (Although, that Marriott one confuzzles me because it seems to always be sold out every single day according to the website back in February.) Plus, they're pretty far to get to. So, I would love to see one here in the northern NJ area.
The Meadowlands is definitely not the idea place for it, but it just frustrates me sometimes that they think of a ski slope (just to mirror that one in Spain; I understand that). For the skiing enthusiastics who want to ski in 90 degrees weather, this is perfect for them. But then, there are some people who like to have a little wave pool/slide action during the winter.

If you are a resident of the State of New Jersey you should be ashamed this is associated with your state. I would rather have a picnic in the economically productive Linden smog than the pathetic, always declining Meadowlands complex. This thing is the sign of what is wrong with America on top of being a piece of junk. It deserves to be bulldozed

It could be the ugliest set of buildings I have ever seen.

I guarantee they will change the name after everyone realizes that is the worst name in history.
What might a good name be other than Xanadu?
I vote for Swamp Thing.

How can this building be basically complete and yet still another year out from opening?
Everything I read online says the outside is done and the inside is just fine tuning some things but basically done. So why an 9/2010 or LATER opening?

It will probably open in phases. In this economy that is more realistic.
It is not a taxpayer project. It is private. They could have opened it anywhere.
