The list is mostly cool although I would have squeezed in more about the Revolutionary War battles and mentioned Molly Pitcher! One correction - Mount Mitchell (Atlantic Highlands 260 feet) is the SECOND highest coastal elevation south of Maine. You can can see the highest elevation south of Maine (Todt Hill, Staten Island 400 feet) when you are standing on Mount Mitchell! Also you can see the Atlantic Highlands from both Staten Island and Long Island.
yeah, sorry dude. but I'm pretty sure half of those facts aren't 100% accurate. I don't think the tallest water tower in the world is in Union, it's definately in like the Netherlands or Japan. I believe the tallest elevator test tower in the US is in NJ though. That huge structure in Randolph right off the Sussex Turnpike, it's inactive though.
It turns out I was wrong. The world's tallest water tower is in fact in Union.
I read somewhere the first paved roads, railroads and glass production was in n.j. Something along those lines. South jersey also holds the most underground freshwater in the country.. or something like that. In the 60s 70s 80s n.j. produced more goods than anywhere. The recorded murders were also in n.j. when natives killed 2 dutch traders on burlington island. The nations oldest continuing running library is in burlington, the nations oldest running drug store is in burlington.. this is just a small city i'm talking about. The most important battles that won the revolutionary war were fough in n.j.
Instead of posting the entire list, you could have just given us this link, to the site on which you found it.
Also, did you research any of that? Several of them look off to me. 80% of what we import coming through Port Elizabeth, for example. While I haven't done the research, and I guess it might be true, it seems odd to me that such a high percentage would go through that port when roughly 43% of our imports are from Canada, China and Mexico, and a port on the Mid Atlantic coast hardly seems the most efficient landing place for goods from those three nations.

The water tower is right at exit 140 on the Parkway. For as long as I can remember it had a sign on it proclaiming it to be the worlds tallest, but it has been removed (or fell off)
I remember everything being very small. Restaurants, shopping centers, lakes, buildings, towns (or as they call them, townships), roads, etc... to mention a few things I thought were very small.
I guess the reason is everywhere is a shore town.
Oh, and the thing I hated the most in NJ was the traffic jamming, TOLLS. I could have a small fortune with the money I spent driving in NJ.

Reason: another thought

These are reasons to spend a lifetime in New Jersey ? An old library, drugstore and battles won over 200 years ago ? Your allowing yours and your families lifes decisions and quality of life to be decided because of this ? You can't be serious ?
