I've never had money in the stock market, as soon as I graduated from college I realized that it's nothing more than legalized gambling. The DJIA never, ever, EVER should've been at 14K.

no, the unemployment numbers aren't made up -- but I've lived through the 74-75, 80-82, and 90-91 recessions, and I'm able to keep things in perspective.

besides, elflord1973 says that unemployment is good... that we need this in order to retrain workers !

fact of the matter is, Sales, by mid summer will probably double what they are now. The NAR spin machine will try to claim that this signals a recovery. They tried the same spin last year.

Chronically elevated involuntary unemployment is not good -- it is symptomatic of economic stagnation.

However, some transitional unemployment (having people who are truly "between jobs", not long term unemployed) is essential to the health of the economy.

So that's why you bought investment property in 2008 ! Because you don't like to gamble !

That's like saying that stock is no gamble because someone will always pay a dividend.

Much like real estate investment, you have speculative stock buying, but you also have investment based on earnings.

I too find the idea of financial people gambling with our retirement money as sadist and therefore closed my 401k books 4 years ago. If I want to have the thrill of stocks rising and falling, I rather play it myself. Some people like to watch porn and some like to play real LOL.

Most companies are no longer contributing to the 401k. Real estate is more realistic gambling than stocks. I mean there is "real" land that needs to be occupied with real people. In stock market nothing is real. Its all illusionary. Stocks change hands even before money transfer takes place. Also look at at the average returns. Was it worth it to tie your money in stocks? the guy called Cramer he delivered good. 24 perecent return. But guess what that socialist comedian tried to put him down on his show. I mean, its always worth it to invest in real investments like real estate or gold.Everything else out there is bull. The only real thing going on in new york right now is future and options.

Forget about startups/expanding companies wanting to raise capital. All money will be out of private enterprises for a long time. This is the end of innovation and a Obama government is of no help either. US dollar is correcting itself against world currency. Also US seems to be meeting its natural death in a global world. But the rest of the world is not as industrilized as America is. Half of the nations don't even care about luxurious living in their homes and having a laundry machine/dryer to clean and dry their clothes, yet they seem more happier than Americans. They may not even live longer than us, but still happy .

You are in your own world brother. Our words can't bring the reality of the world into your life. That much has been proven. Enjoy living in bliss.
