hey all, i'll try my question in nj. after posting in the business/investment forum (for a week), i haven't received more than a couple, well intended but not very useful, replies thus far. hopefully somone can help me out.

i'm looking for the best site, company and/or investor to offer (for sale) a liquor license. the license is located in north/central jersey and is for consumption (bar and/or restaurant)... not a liquor store. it is active and in pocket... can be moved within town. moreover, it is NOT being sold with a business and/or building attached to it.

the license is owned by a friend of mine. he is a builder and not interested in opening a bar and/or restaurant. it had been listed it on liquor license .com with no serious interest. can anyone please give me a shove in the right direction? thanks. looking forward to hearing your replies. have a good one.

bruno, how much is your friend asking for the license? Are there any other licenses available in that town? Any restrictions on the license? How much time from purchase to occupancy do they have to use the license?

If you have an outdoor dining area are you allowed to smoke? With the NJ smoking regulations this is also a factor for people not wanting to get involved with bar/restaurants any longer.

hey kel,

thanks for the reply. they're pretty pricey up in these parts... he's asking 200k... some interest and/or offers but nothing serious yet. as i said he's a building contractor and looking to get back into what he's comfortable with... real estate.

there is 1 other available license but i'm not too knowledgeable about the particulars. in order to keep the license active, the purchaser would have to show good faith and prove he and/or she is seeking a location/building to park it in.

i realize no smoking regulations have hindered the bar/restaurant business, just looking for some sales prospects... whether they be "inside of the box" and/or out. thanks for your comments and anything further you may have to add. hope all is well. have a good one.
