Well technically even FM radio waves can heat our body cells but they are designed not to be focussed at one part of the body for a long time and their freqency is much lower than the tolerable limits.

I did n't read that article, but I thought power lines are safe -- i mean there is a magnetic field around the power cables but they don't extend long. I don't know how long .

Some engineer answer that please.

I guess it would be O.K. in my yard though.
Huh....I don't have a house....I don't think they should put them in anyones back yard! These new ones are 100 feet taller and triple the power being emitted into the environment.
Like I said...just trying to inform people.

This NIMBY crap gets unbelieveable. The electric company isn't doing this for the heck of it. With all of the development in northern NJ/NYC area over the years, the demand for power is greater than ever. Ok, so maybe NYC gets a lot of the benefit. Where do you expect them to put the lines to get power from PA to NY? Lines like these can't be put underground for many reasons. Sure, these towers are ugly. Nobody forces anyone to buy a house next to them. If you buy a house near a powerline easement, you should understand that the electric company may alter/expand the lines, trim the trees, etc.

Everyone loves cheap, plentiful electricity until their backyard view is involved. Rant over.

didn't obama pass multi billion dollars to get us green energy?

as much I hate all that unproven 'global warming' theory, i was thinking why not include underground utilities in that bill as well?

If you don't own a house (or land, commercial property, etc.) around these lines, then you don't have a "dog in this hunt" and don't have a basis for complaining about them in my opinion.

I can write what I want and I am looking for a home....I wanted to look up in Sussex county because of the beauty and peacefullness, away from the hustle and bustle of essex county. I was appalled to hear that they were putting these things up and destroying more of the beauty of the countryside. But besides the fact that this destroys the beauty of the countryside I was more concerned with the health of people and kids. Some of these towers and lines(which are emitting triple the EMF) are being installed right thru tons of neighborhoods were kids play, this might not be so healthy. I'm not sure but I just wanted people to research for themselves and be aware.
No need to be rude. Take it as you will. If you don't like it don't read my post and stay away.

Underground high voltage power distribution is used in most cities but it is extremely expensive for the cable and it does require a right of way in case repair or replacement is required. You rarely see UG power outside cities.

we have to forget about ideal homes in our lifetimes.
some disturbance will always be there.

but i prefer people move to a place with more oxygen...

they really make your face lighten up.

all congested places of nj like edison, woodbridge , metuchen.
sucks. i don't know why they pay millions to live in a pollution zone.

go such places like new milford, hunterdon county, franklin park. etc etc ..
and make sure you talk to politicians and participate on every detail of whats going on in your town.
these politicians will make you naked otherwise.
