Hey everyone, I am new to this forum and I will be moving to Bayonne, NJ here in June. I have did a little searching about Bayonne, and it seems to be a decent are to live as from what I have read. Well I have found a couple places I found one off of:
Ave A between 22nd and 23rd street, any information on the area around this place? I am going to be traveling out there shortly to find a place but just would like to find out any helpfuly information. Thank you very much.

Mike, i was in the same boat as you just a few months ago. Here are some advice from what i learned. Also do you need to be close to the lightrails?
Street(vertical), between 30-45 street is the best.
Avenue(horizontal) ave A and ave C are best. Broadway is way too noisy and lack privacy, and Ave E is next to the lightrail tracks, both of which you want to avoid.
So the best area is between 30-45th street on ave A or C. If you need to take the lightrail for daily commute, then ave C is better.
Let me first say bayonne is safe overall, much more so than jersey city. But I wouldnt want to live between 15-20th street, that's the worst part of bayonne from my experience.
Downtown bayonne is good too, but it doesnt have the lightrail yet, so i am not too familiar with that area.

not a bad area, near a school. ave a is west side, which is generally preferable to east side.
general rule of thumb:
west side over east side
downtown west side (6th street and below) and 35th - 40th St around JFK Blvd/Ave A (near the park, actually I'll include Ave C here) are the best parts of town.
least desirable is 18 - 24th on Broadway and Ave C, in the 50's around Broadway.
good luck, any other questions let me know.

Thank you very much for the helpful information. I am not really to concerned about the light rail or anything of that nature. I will either most likely take a morning jog to work and change there or I will hop in the car and commute. I will be heading to the East side of the pennisula from this location..(The military ocean terminal)...I will be getting to go to Bayonne to search for a place and hopefully I can find a great one and I am really looking forward to the new lifestyle out in the north east!

Hey, sorry for all the inconvience again, but I am still trying to make it out to Bayonne, sometime soon, but as of right now with work I might not make it. But I found a place off West 8th street and Broadway...anyword on the area down there? Also I know someone said that broadway is "too noisy" is this true for the whole strip of broadway or just sections? Thanks in advance if anyone has any helpful information!

Another question:
So I have found out that I will be hitting the road to Bayonne on Monday the 27th to go apartment hunting before I make the move June 1st. I know many people have said to stay away from Newark from what I have read online and so forth, but I have found this apartment online and would like to know about the general neighaborhood if anyone has any helpful information. Thanks the address is : 10 Osborne Terrace, Newark, NJ 07108 and the link to the site that I found was : ►►►Modern, Oversized Rental Apartments (Gorgeous NYC Views!) . Thanks in advance.

If you can afford Bayonne, then by all means stay out of Newark. I don't know a lot about that neighborhood in particular, but it's right next to Irvington which is a hell-hole in it's own right. As far as I know there are very few "nice" sections of Newark, most notably Iron Bound. Seriously, stay away from Newark if you can. Bayonne is a WAY nicer choice.
Look here for some info on the neighborhood:

Clinton Hill, Newark, New Jersey - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Also, notice the pie chart entitled "Races in Upper Clinton Hill" on the first link. Make sure you are comfortable with that before considering this. Not to sound racist, but many white people from suburban areas are not comfortable living in a (nearly) all black neighborhood.

Thank you very much for the info, I am a 23 year old white male and the race issue doesn't bother me, but I can afford Bayonne, but I am having trouble finding a place in Bayonne, I have found a couple places in Bayonne which I am hoping they are what I am looking for. I guess I will find out and see when I get out there sometime around monday!
