Practise on Examination Permit (NJ)

I am an immigrant with H1-B and do hold a valid driving license from India (not International Driving Permit). I had been to the Bayonne NJ DMV today and appeared for the Knowledge and Vision Test and passed both. The officer gave me an examination permit and told me that I wont be exempted from the road test (in some cases they do that if you have a driving license form your home country) and will have to appear for one in the next three months.
Though I know driving very well, I feel that I should practise at least for 2-3 weeks before I appear for the road test.
They have put a note on the examination permit saying "Not valid for Practise". When I checked the MVC website, it says that as part of the Adult Road program, one has to practise for three months post getting the examination permit and appear forthe road test (State of New Jersey - Motor Vehicle Commission).
Could any one please let me know whether I can practise based on the Examination Permit or what options are available to me for practicing driving.
