contachster, tell me if this story is true or not. my brother was walking with some friends through hoboken in the section that is primarily black. some of them called out to his group and said they are in the wrong neighborhood. soon after they started walking towards my brother and his friends. ultimately, a cop came by and asked them why they were there (thinking it was to buy drugs). the cops presence caused the black teens to walk away and they made it out fine.

Is it safe? Unfortunately not, it does have a pretty high crime rate. Just google it. I've never had any problems but lets stick with the facts.
Is it diverse? No, its mainly African-American (about 90 percent) with small percentages of other races.
There are tons of stores around to shop at.
Transportation to NYC is very easy from East Orange, via bus or train.

There is no section of Hoboken that is primarily black. If you mean the Hoboken projects it is only 40%-50% black. |
