We went for dinner at the Main Trattoria Restaurant on Main Street, in Metuchen, and we had the worst Marinara sauce we have ever had in our lives.

The sauce was so thick, like pure paste, that was perfect for hanging wallpaper, and it was way too sweet. Also, the bread is placed on all the tables before the customers arrived, exposed, and left there until whenever. .... Isn't this against restaurants' codes of sanitary laws?

Needless to say, this was our first and last visit.

I've eaten there twice and was not impressed either time. We prefer Torino just around the corner in Metuchen. Good service, decent food, byob, etc. The waiters always take care of us too cause we go in there often.

Wow... We always enjoy the Trattoria. The sauce usually has the most delicious aroma. Did you say anything to them about your concerns? The owners are brothers; one is very friendly and the other on the quiet side.

I have to try Torino.

Just had to let you know of our fav. place in Union County
Il Gabbiano, Cranford, NJ, a BYOB, everything, everytime, wonderful.
Very small, actually in a strip mall. True local favorite.
Try the calamari appetizer, and everything else on the menu.
Great food should be shared.

We loved Il Gabbiano when we lived in Cranford. Nice people and great food. I'm glad it's still there.
