Relocating to Moorestown (maybe)
Hey everyone,
I need your opinions on Moorestown, NJ. I've never even been to the state and may have to relocate there in June.
Is there enough to do?
Is it safe?
Expensive?
Any colleges/universities nearyby?
General opinions of the area?

Moorestown is the safest top rated town in south jersey to live in!!! It is beautiful. It is safe and very expensive. You could not find a house under 300k. There are colleges close by, Rutgers camden, Rowan, Temple, University of Penn, Philadelphia University, Holy Family, Stockton, The College of NJ.
I'm only 25 but if I could live anywhere in south jersey it would be Moorestown, Haddonfield, Haddon Heights, Medford Lakes, Mt. Laurel, Riverton, or Cinnaminson.
Good Luck, all those towns are beautiful and safe with great schools.

thanks!
I know I've found a lot of posts on this forum asking about it, and all I've heard so far is good responses. I'll be working at Lockheed Martin (199 Bortons Landing Rd, Moorestown, NJ) and I only need a 3 to 6 month lease. I asked about nearby colleges (ie. close enough to commute to work ... hopefully no more than 30m one way) if i stay on that campus.
I'm hoping they help me find a place to live, because I really have 0% idea. I read these forums and I don't even know what you are all talking about. (Center city?? I'm lost)
Anyways, any more opinions or help would be appreciated.
Thanks again =]

Lockheed Martin is in a good location with the mall nearby, shops, restaurants, and 295 and the NJ Turnpike in case you want to head to NYC or Baltimore/DC. Very clean and safe area. Can be alot of traffic on Route 38 and the highways during rush hours. Good luck with your new position and welcome to NJ!

The answer to your questions = yes. Moorestown is a quaint, Quaker-founded historic town with a long history of being considered a highly desirable place to live for captains of industry, sports celebrities and other accomplished folks. Schools are terrific, whether you choose public or private - Moorestown Friends is the K-12 private school located on Main Street. Moorestown students attend many of the most prestigious colleges in the world.
If you get into looking at real estate and want some more info, PM me or post here. Moorestown has several different areas of character, each with their own identities. Town center, where I live, has most of the historic colonials and victorians. Most people would consider this to be the most desirable and expensive part of town for not only character but a walkable location to some schools and Main Street. There is also an area known as the 'Golden Mile', known for its estates and horse farms. There are also several new developments of very large homes built within the past 10 years or so.
The town was ranked best place to live in the US by Money in 2005 and it is currently home to the largest private estate in NJ.
This is the sort of character you find on Main Street:

Blends the old with the more recent:

Feel free to contact me with additional questions. There is a ton to do in the area. If you are looking for new or newer construction you will do far better in neighboring towns for your money.
