I wonder how many in the Garden State are more tuned into the early season (regular season game 5 out of 162) exploits of the Yankees or the Mets than the playoffs for the Devils. It has long been my contention that both the Islanders and the Devils could fall off the face of the NY sports landscape tomorrow, and hardly any one would notice. It is my further contention that you could add a third baseball team, put the stadium in Newark, and you'd attract at least 2 million fans. As I see it, hockey is a blip on the radar screen in the NYC metro area (inclusive northern NJ) compared to baseball, and the Devils, having constructed a masterwork of a franchise, still garner almost no fan support. They'd be much better served in a market such as Quebec City or Hamilton (even Milwaukee or Green Bay?) than in Northern NJ. The relatively few responses in this thread I think is almost a testament to this. And that's a real shame, because I think the Devils have earned way more support than what they have.

The Devils have built a great franchise, winning championships and Brodeur continually making history. I've been following them just before they won their first championship way back in the 1990s.
I would say though that the muted response is because this really is not a sports forum.

Yeah, I've been following them too. I remember the year after they took the Rangers to 7 games in the semi-finals (1994) my friend and I bought two tickets to game 1 of the 1995 playoffs against the Pittsburgh Penguins, on a weekend, 30 minutes before opening face off. They were glass seats. We were 3 rows behind the Penguins penalty box. That's a complete disgrace IMO.

I have been a Devils fans since they came to NJ. It is a shame that not more people take an interest in hockey. It's a great sport and the Prudential Center is just awesome. You can actually go on to the Devils website and buy tickets 9 rows of the ice for Fridays game. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the $250/ticket price. So is it the economy or lack of hockey interest attributing to tickets still being available? Maybe a combination of both.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO DEVILS............
LETS GO RANGERS!
People do take an interest in hockey just not the DEVILS! Rangers have sold out 150+ straight games (announced 150 a month or so ago)... I'm not trolling just stating facts
