My husband is from Palmyra, PA. Is that within driving distance of New Jersey? It seems to me that it was farther away, though I've never been there myself.
As far as the radon in homes, what is your take on radon mitigation systems? We have one in our current home. We made the sellers install one because it failed multiple radon tests. Obviously it passed the test afterward or we wouldn't have bought it. It's a little off topic, but I always wondered if it really passed the test afterward. The company that installed the system is the same one that tested it. They could very easily have altered the results, I suppose.

I would not trust the radon testing companies. Do it yourself to be sure. Many will lie and give false results just to sell their mitigation kits.

Oh. I think it's near Hershey, PA. Lebanon County I think. If that helps at all.
I'll have to look into Palmyra, NJ. I haven't looked there yet. It's so hard because I'm simultaneously looking for places to live in other cities that he's either been accepted to or we are still waiting to hear- New York City, New Orleans, Chicago, San Diego, Santa Clara, and a few others that he's pretty much ruled out, but I'm looking in case he changes his mind. I have been putting the most effort into Camden, though. It really seems like it is the most likely school.

If you are going to live outside Camden, live in Collingswood. That way you will be on the PATCO train line.

We at least know it failed initially, but whether it really passed afterward, I don't know. I certainly hope so.

I'm sure I could sign up to go volunteer in the Congo if I wanted to. Doesn't mean it's a safe place to live.

Palmyra, PA is by no means an easy commute to Camden, NJ. That's really not an option for you. If you were to live in PA and commute to Camden, then really the most logical areas would be Bucks County, PA or Center City Philadelphia (both of which are very expensive places to live due to their desirability). I know some people now commute from NEPA to Manhattan daily or from York, PA to Baltimore/DC daily, but I don't understand why people are willing to sell out precious quality time with their children by commuting four hours daily in order to buy a home for $200,000 less. Shouldn't family come first?

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing......no knowledge just demonstrates stupidy !!! Radon testing companies do not analyze the test kits they place......separate labs do. Radon mitigators very seldom do the actual testing of the homes they mitigate......DEP mitigators are usually brought in to mitigate a home after a home has been tested and found to have excessive levels and even then a second confirmation test is usually done by a different company to confirm the original results. Since you have demonstrated you have no knowlege of New Jersey DEP radon testing and mitigation protocol Mr. DailyJournalist I suggest you just stick with what you know best......stocking the shelves at WalMart....rather than misleading the public with your paranoid statements of conspiracy.
