one con is they rust and the structure may fall . Is that true?

Umm...no, and no. Most metal siding is aluminum, so it doesn't rust. The older aluminum sidings tended to get chalky, but the newer materials have coatings that are much better. The siding is in no way structural, so even if it did rust away, it wouldn't cause the structure to fall- it may cause rot to occur, which could eventually create structural issues, but that's a ridiculously extreme case, and not a reason to avoid a home with metal siding.

yep, agreed. I heard steel rusts.

by the way how younger homes should be to be considered better per your definition?

this home is 1974...do you think they will stand another 65 years?

If properly maintained, (both up to now, and going forward), there should be no reason it shouldn't last that long. Wood structures generally fail due to improper and/or deferred maintenance- not due to natural decay.
