Check the train schedule at njtransit.com. It looks like a pretty tough commute to me, especially to 111th street.

OK, so please tell us how one gets from their house in Wayne NJ, to their desk at 111th street in Manhattan, in less than an hour. Include specifics, and cite the appropriate transit schedules in your explanation.

To be honest I am NOT sure where 11th is, I do know tons of people that go there every day and some have done it for years. My suggestion (considering where they live now) is the husband should try it one day and see how it goes. SOmetimes you have to sacrafice for something you really want, Wayne is good t own to live, not to mention raising childern. No need to burst her bubble, where she she go liveJersey City? Puhleaseeeeeeeeeee.

Seems to me you have no idea how long the commute is, so why tell OP it's over 1 hour ? If you don't know, it would be more accurate to say so, instead of making things up.
To the OP: my estimate is 85 minutes minimum. Based on the njtransit schedule, the train ride from Wayne to 33rd is 60 minutes at best. Allow 10 minutes to get from your doorstep to the station. Another 10 minutes to get to 59th st subway (if he's on the West side -- longer if he's on the east), another 5 minutes to walk to work.
Getting to 111th from 33rd depends on how far East or West he is. You're looking at about 20 minutes or so.

Jersey City is a great town with short commutes, but may or may not be what they're looking for. They should be able to find something that is a good fit for their needs with a much shorter commute than Wayne.

like I said sometimes when you find the house of your dreams you have to sacrafice....am positive JC is not what they are looking for but I am also sure it wouldnt take much more time than an hour....He should try the trip that is the best bet. And there are tons of people from that area that travel to there so it cant be that bad. You can go on every main street in Wayne there are bus stops so it probably would NOT be a 10 minute drive.......My Family was from Jersey city my skin crawls every time somone passes and I have to go there.Sorry

Yes, it can be that bad. Suburbanites put up with a lot of bs for their lawn, mcmansion and "great" public schools.

No idea why you're getting side tracked into bashing Jersey City. Bashing Jersey City won't make the commute from Wayne. It's absurd to suggest that their only other option is Jersey City.
You are "sure" that it wouldn't take much more time than an hour ... based on WHAT ? The fact that other people do that commute ?
According to the njtransit schedule, the train ride is 1 hour minimum. Commuting times to Manhattan are nearly always 30 minutes longer then the njtransit ride. It's a 90 minute commute minimum (but it's probably longer than that).
