Uhh.......no. That is so wrong I don't even know where to start.
A "Hispanic" person, or a "Latino" person, is any person, of any race, who comes from a Spanish-speaking country in Latin America, or has origins in any such country.
"Spanish" people are from Spain. The vast majority of Spaniards (Basques, Catalans, Castilians, Asturians, Andalusians, etc.) are white. They are not a distinctive race.
Hispanic or Latino people can be white (and yes, this includes Spanish), black, Native, Asian, Arab, or any combination of the above.

Why get into what race the people who got those corporate bailouts were? (I have no idea what percentage of those corporate employees were of what race.)
But why not just use the most fair, undeniable statistic: none of the money went to poor Americans of any race? That is the only truly disadvantaged class of people in this country.
The funny thing is, because so many blacks are poor, helping poor people would, by default, help blacks tremendously and accomplish many of the same goals (if not more of them) than trying to give racist preferences on the basis of skin color.
But the black elites like the special perks that their skin color gets them, so they keep pushing for special treatment for blacks. Al Sharpton loves being "disadvantaged" despite his millions.

If you wish............All I am saying is that there needs to be a level playing field, and it wasn't like that when affirmative action was first instituted, and it isn't like that now.

Right. I don't know what "whites without college degrees" who live well that you're talking about, but presumably you're talking about fields that don't require college degrees, like:
- police officer
- fireman
- plumber or other tradesmen
- military
If you're claiming there aren't plenty of successful blacks in those fields, living successful lives without college degrees, you, my friend, are the one who is dreaming.

As for scholarships for "at risk" groups, more women than men have been graduating from post-secondary colleges and universities for the past 20 years. Women are hardly at higher risk of failing to obtain a higher education, quite the opposite, it is men who are falling behind in education.
College graduates trend by gender
The fact is, each side can cherry pick whatever statistics it wants to in order to claim "victim status".
But the bottom line is that two wrongs don't make a right, and we should treat people equally if we want to further the values of "equality" in society.
Reverse racism and gender discrimination have no place in society. The only truly "disadvantaged" group are the poor, because in our country, money talks. Rich blacks and rich girls have far more opportunities than a poor white boy (and of course, far more opportunity than a poor black boy or poor white girl) and racist discrimination does nothing to address that fact.
Can't wait for the millionaire Obama girls to get affirmative action and use my tax-payer funded money to help them out over my "advantaged" white son.

I am happy you posted the link. College graduation rates merged around 90s after many decades of gap partly THANKS TO scholarships and incentives directed to this group.
Please check out the earnings by gender from the same link. The gap is still pretty high, but it is closing down THANKS TO shrinking gap in college graduation rates.
So it works. All the power to those who give. I am not sure whether you can cherry pick any single statistic that suggests white males are not getting theirs in this country (by the way I am one of them). If you can find one, I would be happy to talk about it.
Obama is on the record on the whole affirmative action issue and the fact that it should be directed to address closing the gap between rich and poor rather than targeting specific race and gender groups. I am happy you are concerned with policies closing the gap between middle and poor class and the riches. We need more people like you.

Yeah, we need to give the millionaire black Obama girls racist preferences based on their skin color ... you know, to level the playing field and all.

There are some blacks who are in these fields......but I will say that in terms of tradesmen, the unions fight hard to keep many of the building and skilled trades lily-white.

Look, no love for Sharpton but that is not the point here.
Scholarships would be merit based in a perfect world.
This world is far from perfect.
Google National Italian American Foundation.
They are not donating to a single school but they could.
Nothing is stopping them.
The individuals are applying directly to them in this case.
Makes it seem less controversial but it's the same deal at the end of the day.
