where these taxes are going:
- cops and teachers salary
- corruption
- services
Why in the world you need a teacher for every 12 pupils, the figure is well over 50 in china and india and they are churning out as many smart engineers
why you need a cop for every 500 residents ? just so the guy hides in a bushes to give ticket, i have seen (in some decent towns) cops doing nothing but responding calls to somebody locked out of their car or mediating a family fight
you dont need 3 cops for a fender bender or roadside construction
cannot recall a single day when I havent seen a cop during my commute

DH knows pretty much every cop in NJ. Yet when we drive and he sees a cop sitting at a construction site he says "Must be nice to be getting $50 an hour and having this add to your bloated pension for sitting there doing nothing." And damn, he's right.
We really need a politician who will take on the unions... and it's not likely to happen.

First of all the People in the Davidson/ Williamson county are here are not hillbillies. Most have high end jobs, with college degrees.
Did you know Williamson county , TN is one of the wealthest counties in the US? We have wonderful libraies, and the one downtown is like the big one in NYC. The problem is you truely moved to the sticks. I like Convience to a International airport as I travel(20 min from my house) Convience to theater, art, music(15min) near major hospital(Lots of those Vanderbilt, St Thomas Heart, and more) Nashville is a health mecca, lots of Medical conventions occur here.
It means you don't need to pay high taxes or high real estate taxes to get all that.

Diane I like and respect you but you dont have to travel very far to be right in the thick with the hillbillies. Diane I am very sure you do not have to drive to far to see a rebel flag and pick up truck and some nice trailers. I respect you and that you may live with the rich and have a great area but I am sure lif you go 20 miles in any direction where you live your with hill billies. Lets not sugar coat it. There there!!
And if I am wrong Diane , I will come on down and visit!!!! Take alook for myself. I did do alot of traveling to move to NC, looked over the whole damn state!!! Add SC (greenville) and some not all of GA. TN did not hit, so I could be wrong but I think there pretty darn close.

Oh you think. Well Keith Urban , Nicole Kitman, Faith Hill,Tim Mcgraw and others of that calibur live in Lepers Falk which is about 20 miles from me. It is the Country there, Big Farms(Estates) I guess they must be Hillbillys, Rich ones, lol.
Seriously, 20 miles either way, one way is to a downtown area, another is to country, where they have built upscale homes, Kix Brooks has a winery there.
You have to realize that the Williamson County/Davidson county is probably the fastest growing area in TN. Our Governor(who is from Boston) has intriged major businesses to move here, Nissan from Calif, Cattapillar Financial, and many Medical related businesses Yes, we have many transplants here with all these companies moving here. There is not a day I don't rum into someone from NY, Conn or NJ. We even have a large British population. They know they can live here and have everything they had there and cost less. My house would be over a Mil in NJ, and I paid in the $400S. It was less that a smaller house I sold, and much less taxes.
Btw, No rebel flags in this area. Those you will find in Western TN, AND I live in Middle TN. Memphis is another story, we call that the armpit of the state.
I've been there once, was enough. Its a good 4 1/2 hours from me.
NC and SC have some very rural areas as we do, but you really have to drive to get to ours, and the funny part is that builders are building some nice houses out there also. I've seen some trailer parks in city areas , but you will find that aywhere. Hey there is one right off Rt 9 in Marlboro,NJ right in back of a cruise agency, lol.

what are cops for? writing up reports and sitting on their butts eating donuts. people pretend that cops are heroes saving lives. they arent there when the crime happens, they come along after and harrass the victims.

Are hillbillies the same as rednecks? Because I have seen many of the latter in Southern NJ.

She had upstate NY hillbillys. From what she discribed it was in the woods. It was kind of funny, because I have never seen that here.
I acually did see some rebel flags in odd areas of south Jersey. Trust me I personally know some Hillybillys just south of Six Flags, New Egypt.
Have you ever visited that antique market in New Egypt? The venders there are strange!
