Hi,
I am looking at Parkside as well. I am a bit concerned about Beazer's financial status and their ability to complete the community. The homes are nice and they are providing decent options.

Given the current market conditions, they should be willing to negotiate. I know that they will not negotiate on the base price of the house but you will have a lot of room to negotiate any options you want included in the base price. They has a promotion couple of weeks ago where they were waiving the lot premium, free upgraded gourmet kitchen, 15K towards mortgage assistance (I would not go with their mortgage lender - Countrywide for all the publicized reasons), and additional 40-50K in incentives that can be used towards options. I looked at their options manual and some items are pricy! I am sure they will be willing to entertain any additional requests you have.

I dont know about Parkside but I can tell you plenty about Beezer. Even things I can't say here. I didn't even know Beezer was in NJ. They were not in all the years I lived there.

Beezer is one step up from a KB Home. KB is generally the budget built house. For both builders, they are not really bad but the idea is to NOT buy their options and do upgrades yourself. Of course things that require adding on now because later it would cost more I'm not talking about. What you get is more square footage for your money but what goes inside is really really cheap. You have no choice with the cabinets because they only let you choose from what they offer which is the cheapest junk.

Some of the more expensive Beezer does use a quality cabinet. I should know because I installed a thousand or so kitchens for them in Las Vegas. I feel the customer service is 2nd rate next to a Pulte or Toll Bros. who win the JD Powers award for customer service excellence every year. Beezer never won it.

DesertSun41 - Thanks for the post. I think this is a problem with new home construction in general. I have been searching quiet a bit and I have read similar stories about Toll brothers, Pulte and others as well. The key is to be involved in the home building process and not be passive. I have talked to a couple of Beazer home owners in NJ and they seem to be happy with what they have.
