Default Apartment Near Hazlet?

So I'm graduating this May and will be working in the Hazlet area. I'll be finding an apartment but I don't know anything about the area - can anybody give me some pointers about where to look? I'm trying to find a good balance between a short commute, low rent, good neighborhood and decent proximity to a young/active area. The budget is below $1500. Any particular areas you guys can recommend, or particular subsets of Hazlet, etc? Thanks.

Check Craigslist and Realtor.com and you'll find a range of apartments and houses in Hazlet & the surrounding area. There isn't an apartment complex in Hazlet, itself, but should be plenty of rentals for under $1500.

In surrounding towns, as far as apartment complexes proper, you may be looking at Green Grove Apartments in Keyport and Knollwood Gardens & McGuire's Grove in Middletown. There's also Regency Park in Middletown, which is a townhome subdivision with rentals. I think the 1BR may start at 1500, though. I don't know much about any of these properties, first hand, so I can't recommend one over another.

If you check Craigslist or Realtor.com for "96 East Ave" in Middletown, you should find listings for a 1 or 2BR for under $1500. Nice complex - I looked at these units. Most are owner-occupied, but they seem to be renting out units with good work. Probably about 20 minutes from the center of Hazlet, though it is just a straight shot down Route 36.

If you have any other questions, feel free to send me a message. Good luck!
