My advice would be to check out more outdoorsy, fun, springtime things like festivals, shows, parks, boardwalks, street fairs and such. Or, volunteer for a cause that you support, and you're pretty much guaranteed to meet others who care about the same things you do.
problem is, the girls you'd meet in those settings don't like to bang

Maybe they just don't like to " YOU! . as you so eloquently put it...Trashy chicks in Hoboken bars aren't the only girls in the world who like sex, FYI...some of us just don't act like trash or go in for those douchebags (just using the label you guys are using to describe them)...A far as them getting all the hot girls, guess again.
I don't think you even have a clue...maybe it's been a long time for you and that's why you're so negative!
EEPNJ, you're right, it turned very sexist very fast!
Good post, not to mention sex is not the only thing I care about. I would rather not meet a girl at a bar and go home with her because I don't know what I'm likely to get from her. Besides, the girl that I was describing in my original post wouldn't go home with anyone from a bar.
Brooklyn is not the place for pearls- not very good for southerners either but if you stick with the yuppie crowd you might be o.k. It depends on what you like to do.
There are a few of those in Hoboken as well but less of them. The belly shirts crowd does not hang with the yuppie crowd even there.
You should forget everything you know because much of it will be just the opposite.
You will no longer be looking for sundresses or pearls. That era has passed this part of the world by. I have met very traditional people from the south who move to NY and end up more comfortable hanging with hipsters than yuppies- which I'm sure was a huge surprise to them. But at least they were open and grew from the experience instead of just hating the whole thing.
Find an interest or hobby. It is actually better if you don't drink. It really is the worst way to meet people.
