It is what it is. I knew I was not immune to whats going on in the world today and I knew it was always a possibility. I'll live. My DH is off the deep end. He's freaking out that I may not work for YEARS. I'm like OK - I found out TODAY let's not jump into YEARS from now... ONE FREAKING THING AT A TIME. Men, and they say women are dramatic! Day 1... I'll live.
OK - off to talk DH off the freaking ledge. Then I'll get the kids from school.... and go clean out my office. *Sigh* I am going to miss my office. What can you do? C'est la vie....
Not for me but for all out there going through hard times:
WHAT DOES NOT KILL YOU MAKES YOU STRONGER
I really believe that. Although I don't really need much more strength!
Wow, Elle, I am really, really sorry. I wish there was something I could do.
You say everything happens for a reason. Well, maybe what happened a few weeks ago didn't happen in vain. Relative to losing a job, losing a loved one is much, much worse.
Thanks Mike - you are so right. You know what, it's almost a good thing because I told my friend I have not had TIME to grieve. It's been GO GO GO GO GO. And I'll be sitting at a traffic light and get struck with an image of the last hours and say OMG It really happened. And get that struck in the pit of your gut feeling all over again. I think the FIRST THING I'm going to do is deal with those emotions and then move past it. Why not, resume's already updated!
Sorry to hear you got laid off, Elle. Tell your husband to man-up, give you some breathing room, and chill out. Indulge in a little Kettle One (no worry about being productive tomorrow!) and keep the big picture in mind. There are far more important things in life.
Good luck in your job search, but hey, at least you got laid off when the weather turned nice!
LOL - so we'll take a Ketel One collection for me???
They can let anyone go, and I may be it. NOT the way I wanted to spend my personal day. I DID call my boss and asked her, she said she can not say who it is until the boss arrives at 4:00. I told her if it is me PLEASE call me and don't let me have to go in tomorrow to find out. She was very quiet, which she never is.... plot thickens.
Capt... I don't expect anyone will save me, Obama included. I've been taking care of myself since I was 15 yrs old and I expect I'll be doing it until the day I die. I don't have a problem in the world with that. I do think having an over the top party, when many of the friends I would invite are struggling to survive, would have been in poor taste. But if I loose my job, it's probably best I felt that way becuase it wouldn't be the time to spend $$$ on a party. I'm content, it's about her sacrament and having the family we love close anyway - not a flashy party. Can't say Jesus would like that anyway!
Don't disapoint your daughter. Don't forget Jusus turned water into wine.
Things will be fine. When the office calls and asks how to do something, tell them you forgot.
One of my friends in NJ just officially got the pink slip as well. Just unbelievable.
Meanwhile, where I live now, we can't fill positions. There aren't enough qualified people.
