Default Downtown JC Neighborhoods-Brunswick St. Safe?

Im looking to buy a condo in downtown Jersey City. The address is in Harimus Cove, but I still think it may be a little bit "seedy". It is on Brunswick St. in between second & third. This is on the "other" side of Newark ave. Is this safe? Is this still considered Harimus Cove? Thanks for any info!!

According to this map, it looks like you're too far West.

As far as safety is concerned -- there's a big no-mans land to your West, around route 78. The area is a bit deserted. Take a look at it Fri/Sat night to get an idea of whether or not it's seedy.

Play around with this crime map for a feel of whether that place is a focal point for crime.

It's not the Harsimus Cove neighborhood. It's the old Italian Village neighborhood, I believe.

It's the very edge of "Downtown", quite deserted (right near Turnpike overpass), and generally off the beaten path. That's why real estate is so much cheaper there. In terms of safety, it's not as safe as most of the rest of Downtown...but it's not a war zone by any means. It's also not as aesthetically attractive as the rest of Downtown JC, in my opinion.

There is a reason it's cheaper - it's because it's just not as desirable. You're also pretty far from the PATH. But it could be a good investment...the area can only improve, I think.
