Hi,
Does anyone have a suggestion for a fairly easy (no-car) bike trail we could do this weekend in Essex, Bergen or Morris counties? We're testing out a new ride-behind trailer for the kids. I read about a trail in Bergen county, but someone said it was so crowded they had to stop riding to wait for walkers to pass. We'd like to be somewhere a little less populated. If that doesn't exist in these counties, where does one go??? Thanks!

Default check online for rail to trail in NJ

We bike a fabulous one, the columbia trail but it's in Hunterdon. There's plenty more though and perfect for the type of biking you are looking for.

Bergen Co. can be crowded at times requiring yielding and patience. Its a very nice park so have to be ultra attentive at all times. I still go there b/c its very nice and scenic (the one from Rochelle Park to Ridgewood w/Glen Rock loop in middle).

Recommend trails in Morristown/Madison which I think are part of Geralda Farms (as its called). Best bet IMO.

May also want to test Brookdale Park in Montclair/Bloomfield too.

A ton of people ride up 9W in bergen county up north through englewood cliffs. I'm not sure where exactly they're heading but I think it's up toward Bear Mountain in NY.

This is a VERY popular weekend trail for bikers. I will note though that there is traffic on 9W and a woman was hit by the GW bridge a few years ago.
