Default Renting in South Jersey/Jersey shore?

So my fiance and I really want to get out of Brooklyn and move down to south Jersey, preferably, close to the shore. I grew up spending my summers in places like Ocean City, Cape May, Point Pleasant, and Sea Isle City, so I love that type of town feel. I cannot seem, however, to find any apartments for rent year round. Hopefully someone here can point me in the proper direction. It doesn't have to be one of the towns listed above, it could even be a town outside (like Somers Point is to Ocean City). My price range for rent is a maximum of $1200 for a 1BR. THANK YOU!

I'm not sure, but you might be looking at the wrong time. Right now I'd think most places are trying to capitalize on the summer crowd and the inflated rates that go along with it. You might be best looking once the summer's over (although I'm assuming you wanted to be down there this summer as well).

I agree with GoPhils, now is starting the season for renting in those areas. Try going on Craigs list you may be able to find annual rentals.

I'm not sure if you checked the Asbury Park Press but that's where you'll probably find a lot of rentals. Years ago when I wanted a year round rental I went through an agency. For $600 fee I ended up with a brand new 1 bedroom condo on the corner of 3rd and Ocean Ave in Belmar. What a great year:-)

There are a lot of year round rentals. up and down the coast.

I live in Toms River and you may find something in this area - there are waterfront homes and condos and you're 10 minutes from the ocean. Brick may also have some waterfront. These towns are not big on seasonal rentals but honestly I don't know what might be available in your budget.

It's hard to find rentals all year round in beach areas because they target tourists that come during the summer months. If you want a yearly rental, you should probably look offshore like Somers Point. It's and quiet area, and it's right across the bridge from Ocean City and MUCH CHEAPER. IMO, I wouldn't want to live at the beach because of all the traffic during the summer, and people like to take the parking spaces in front of your home/rental. You'll end up get a rental close to the beach, but will have to park nearly outside the city to get to it. I know from experience. I live in Atlantic City and it's easier for me to just catch the bus from my house to the beach instead of driving down the street.

Also, I would say if you can afford 1200 a month for rent, you should just buy a home in the suburbs. You'll never be more than 20 minutes from a beach, and it'll probably end up being cheaper than renting a beach house lol. Look at areas like Egg Harbor Township, Rio Grande, and Somers Point. Those are your best bets.
