Bridgeton?
Is this place worth visiting? I hear it's shhitty and crime ridden (like its neighbor Millville), but the downtown looks kind of interesting. Plus the fact it's this small city out in the middle of nowhere interests me as well.

Seriously, if you have to ask that question, then don't go. The middle of nowhere? I guess that means that it's not Jersey City or Newark.
There is a problem with crime in Bridgeton. It seems that there has been an influx of undesirables thanks to the the state - shipping overflow problematic section 8 and rehab dropouts to the area.
Bridgeton may not fill your day but there are things to see in the area if you know what you're looking for, like Greenwich or Wheaton Glass.

Great website, reminiscent of Weird NJ. There's so much cool stuff to explore in this state. I remember seeing that abandoned fish factory near Mystic Island and thought it was a coast guard station.

It depends on what you like to do when visiting a certain town. There is plenty to do in Bridgeton (and Millville for that matter) it just depends on what you are after. You won't find that it's compatible to NYC or Philly, but then again, not many towns of 20,000 people ARE compatible to those cities.

Sorry but I felt very unsafe in the middle of the day. All I did was drive through Bridgeton and stopped at 7-11 or was it Wawa to grab a water. Gangs of people just hanging in front of the store. I noticed a distinct "aroma" of 420...people sitting on curbs, drinking outta brown paper bags....skip it!
Just my opinion.

C'mon. Let's be real. Bridgeton really is the middle of nowhere.

You're not kidding. I have lived in NJ for 14 years and had to look on a map to see where Bridgeton is. I always thought Vineland is the middle of nowhere and Bridgeton looks even more rural than that.

Years ago I drove there from Camden County to play soccer twice a week. I couldn't believe how inaccessible that place was. No good way to get there from anywhere.

The Rutgers Food Innovation Center just opened in Bridgeton. They are hoping to bring jobs to the area. It's a great place to visit too.

It's unfortunate that you were made to feel "unsafe" in this way. I've visited the 7-11 on Broad Street (by the intermediate school) plenty of times and have never felt threatened. It's definitely is a diverse town with plenty of low income people - but the area by the 7-11 is quite tame, in my opinion. Bridgeton is faced with many of the same problems facing towns such as Vineland and Millville, including a historic downtown area in need of direction and rehabilitation, gang and crime issues, and an influx of illegal immigrants. I actually like the mixed rural/historic small city & town nature of Cumberland County. Not too much sprawl here, but within 15-20 minutes of anything I might generally want.
