Default What are Monmouth Co beaches like?

I grew up living by the shore, mainly in ocean county (Seaside, Pt Pleasant & LBI), and I've had plenty of chances to explore Atlantic & Cape May Co beaches during the past 2 summers and before. But I haven't seen much of the beaches in Monmouth county, and there are a lot of them. Not to mention that they all seem very different. I've been to Sandy Hook, Sea Bright, Asbury Park and some of Long Branch but that's about it. My parents used to go to Bradley Beach every summer, but I just don't remember anything about it.

What are the other beaches like? I'd like to go to Belmar, the new Long Branch pier and see some of the nicer, high end beaches of the area. What's recommended if I wanted to drive up and down the coast or if I wanted to travel in the area on the next warm day?

Have you visited Ocean Grove? It's a really nice town for a day trip-beautiful historic homes, a great downtown area with shops and restaurants. Parking is not a huge issue either, as it can be with some other towns.

I think you'll like Long Branch but Ocean Grove feels much less commercial.

One of the more beatiful shore towns is Spring Lake, but I'm not sure how parking and beach access is there.

Spring Lake is the least comericialised beach. Summetime parking will not be easy esp. near the 2 pavillions and BB and hotels. Away from that I shoud not be that hard to find a spot unless the weather is really nice

Manasquan is my favorite Monmouth County beach. It's very picturesque - the beaches are very wide and, at the south side of the town, there's the Manasquan Inlet. There is a paved walkway along the dune instead of a boardwalk and commercial entities (a pizza place, sandwich place, arcade) is limited to just one single block. I also find the beaches there to be the best taken care of.

For what it's worth, it's always been my opinion that Ocean County beaches are a bit nicer, but Manasquan is definitely a gem.

Agree--Ocean County beaches are much nicer--the water is cleaner and the beach sand whiter and softer.
