Westfield living
My hus and I are giving up on finding a house in Princeton and considering Westfield. Houses are slightly more affordable and need less work for the money. He would have to commute to Piscataway. I would like input on the quality of life in Westfield and on the commute. By quality of life, I mean are there interesting things to do like continuing ed or adult ed classes, fitness classes, etc. Also we heard it is a pretty Repub town, i.e. Bush/Cheney territory.

If we could have afforded Westfield, there would have been no reason to leave Jersey.

Thanks for the positive feedback...
It's good to finally hear something nice about New Jersey. Since we've been looking in Princeton we were feeling disappointed about looking elsewhere, but the housing stock is so nice in Westfield and the neighborhoods are beautiful....How about the commute to Princeton or to Piscataway?

I don't think anybody has anything bad to say about westfield
if you can afford it then go for it
as far as commute
Driving or public transportation?
Princeton is 33 miles give or take
Piscataway is 15 miles give or take

I have to admit, westfield is nice, pricey but nice! Clark which is rite next door is also very nice but not as pricey.

I don't know much about Westfield but my cousin, his wife and their 3 children live there. And they love it! My cousin works in NYC and gets the train right down the street. Homes are on the pricey side though.

Westfield is gorgeous! If you could afford it, I would go for it. I have a family friend there and love visiting her house and neighborhood.

I agree that Westfield is a lovely town. It has a very homey feel, the homes are adorable, lots of trees, and the "town" section is great, including the train (which other people have mentioned). It's local to the Parkway as well. Good luck--I know you're going to love it there.
