Default Good restaurants in Bergen

Good for dates. Italian, Japanese, steakhouses.

And romantic, classy bars/lounges.

All suggestions appreciated!

Loved Restaurant Nicholas in Red bank and Stage House in Scotch Plains. Amandas in Maplewood (or was it Hoboken) is also nice though parking situation in Hoboken inevitably ruins the dining experience. The first 2 rival any of NY best. Went to Restaurant Daniel in the city last month and did not think it was any better than either of these 2. Pricier yes but better food or even service.... Did not think so.

OMG Biggies in Hoboken are they really still there? Amanda's is in Hoboken...When we
visit in the summer we always wind up at Arthurs for at least one meal in Hoboken, May
not be the "best" steak around but we have always enjoyed it and their burgers too.
Our favorite is still El Cid on Paramus Rd. in Paramus next door to the now defunct
"Old Mill" swimming hole....Best spanish food around and Lobster....also a great Italian
restaurant in Totowa off of Minisink Rd. called Porcini's.....it's BYOB so you save a great
deal when you bring your own wine and they don't Charge you a corking fee!!!....Was
there around Christmas and absolutely loved the food..can't wait to go back this summer.

I didn't read through this whole thread but I loved Cavellos in Sayreville, this wonderful Italian restaurant just before that bridge that goes into South River. That might be one of the first places we hit when we move back into Jersey.

Cafe Arugala in South Orange. Great menu choices and incredible daily specials. Creative, fresh, well executed and beautifully presented.
