You seem not to get what murder rates are. East Orange has a higher murder rate then JC. Crime rates go by population and crime stats not just the stats alone. Remember JC is the second largest city in NJ and close to becoming the largest. A better question then how many cities you know with over 20 murders is, how many cities you know with about 250,000 people that don't have over 20 murders a year?

Murder Rates.....99.....00.....01.....02.......03......04 ......05......06....07

East Orange.....17.2...16.6...18.5...22.4....31.4...24. 4...20.3...14.7...11.9

Jersey City.......6.4....7.1.....10.3...8.6.....9.9.....9 .6.....15.9....9.2....8.3

This also compares the two cities.

Also Asbury Park should have made the top of the list since statistic wise it has been one of NJ murder capitols a few times, it has had a higher rate then Camden and Irvington in the past.

Although I don't agree with this list 100% I feel it is more accurate then yours Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitors sites is not allowed

Irvington is by far the worst town/city in Jersey. You can go by all of the statistics that are put out but until you are actually go to these places you do not have a clue. im from a small upper class white community by the beach and used to routinely make trips to irvington/camden/hillside to cop. the places i had to go to in irvington nearly made me **** my pants. that place is absolutely terrifying for a small white kid like me but i guess youll go anywhere when your dope sick

Whoever said that Union is more dangerous at night i say that i did a lot of times from one of my houses which sits right on the border of Maplewood section in Union (behind garage i have Maplewood) to my other house right on the border of Springfield (behind house i have Springfield) i did it so many times at different times of the day and night, and walked Stanley Terr right on the border of Vauxhall next to Quick Check, then Burnet Ave and always felt safe besides some of the dogs that people walk with, that was the biggest threat especially the yorkie terriers are the worst. Me being the real estate salesmen i go to all the parts of the town i take long walks around the town and never, never had something that made me feel unsafe any time of the day. Rd 22 also is safe but thats where some of the crime happens but nothing to make you feel unsafe.

I was under the impression that much of Glasgow had undergone quite a renaissance and was much safer than a couple of decades ago. What's up with the east end of Glasgow?

Think it's worse than Camden? I've never been to Irvington, but Camden is pretty terrifying as well. My girlfriend is black and her mom wanted to go to a soul food place there on a main street. It's not an easy feeling being a regular Italian suburban white kid in the center of that town.

Regardless of what you might hear on TV, there are areas of the US that are 3rd World Status (ie: Detroit & Flint, MI, East St. Louis, MS, Gary, ID..etc)

Don't believe the hype.

i don't understand why white people get all scared going to places like newark and irvington when nobody's going to mess with them simply because they're white. hell... irvington doesn't even look as run down as camden. over there looks scary but irvington.... please.
