Upper Saddle river is not a town to worry about when it comes to schools and crime.

You'll be fine. Just make sure anyone attending school there wears the uniform of Ugg boots, 7 for all Mankind jeans, a North Face jacket and Vera Bradley bag and they will fit right in.

Upper Saddle River is a nice little suburb on the New Jersey-New York border. Very rustic, no downtown, no stores. Although affluent, it is a big step down from a Saddle River or an Alpine in terms of real estate values. Many more houses available. Sort of similar to Franklin Lakes in terms of value and character.

There are no bad areas in UPS. The whole town is beautiful. Very quiet. You have to go to Montvale to shop. Or Mahwah, Rt. 17, depending where in UPS you live.

Bahahaha! So true. It's definitely upscale but I'm sure you will like the town.. the winters, I'm not so sure. If you've never experienced an East Coast winter before, well, have your salt and ice scrapers handy come November! Good luck to you on your move!

Your property tax will likely to triple or quadruple (from what you have in Palo Alto), and the high school average SAT score will be about 200 points lower than Palo Alto (although it's still a good score here). You will endure arctic blast after arctic blast like we just did in winter. Also welcome to shoveling snow, changing to winter tires, $600 monthly heating bill in winter, and hey, remember to clean out all the ice/snow on top of your car before driving since it's the law here (that can take you 10-15 minutes). But don't get scared away - we have a brain drain here and we need people from Silicon Valley. Welcome to Jersey!
