Moving to Northern Nj, Please help...Appreciate the help!
Hello,
myself and my family are wanting to move to NJ(northern nj) from the NYC area.
We want to be able to purchase a residential home or multi family home.
The thing is that we would like to live in a good area where...
1. the community is good-no crime
2.Is not too far from NYC; easy commute
3.accesibility to other areas.
4.nice place with a nice diversity but nothing too exagerated.(would like some white, hispanic and black people and other races as well but not too exagerative with the races-too much of one kind)
5. Schools are good, good education, people and area(for elementary, middle school and high school)
What county would you guys recomend? Passaic, bergen, union, essex?
I would really appreciate the help with this venture of mine.
please recomend me some good area neigborhoods that might sound like the above.
Thank you!

Well honestly, I can give a budget but I would just like some suggestions on some neighrborhoods, counties, and areas that you might be able to recomend. I will try to do my best to see and search around for the price range and what is available and such. If you can include a price amount estimate then that would be fine just as an estimate.
I really do appreciate the help anyone, as I am wanting to brainstorm with my family on where we should start thinking and searching around for the move.
Thank you!

You included a lot on your wish list that you will have to flush out for yourself with the local officials of the towns that you select.
While there are many areas for you to consider, I am in Central NJ and believe that the towns located in Somerset County, Mercer County and Middlesex County are among the best in the state.

Low crime, cultural diversity, easy commute, Montclair, Essex County leaps to mind (central and northern areas). It's still less common for more affluent areas in New Jersey to have a good racial mix.
All counties have good and not so good areas, hard to say one county is necessarily better than another.
From your list of northeastern NJ counties -
Bergen is the most expensive (especially the further north you go), commute can be easy but be prepared to drive a ways to your house after you get off a highway, especially to the north.
Western Essex is great, eastern Essex not so much.
Passaic is wildly different from north to south, wooded, lower density to the north, inner city to the south, lot of flood areas in between.
Union is moving more towards central NJ and is better for a Rt 78 commute instead of 80, also can be a while from highway to house.
IMHO, Essex is by far the easiest accessibility, a highway exit is always nearby, and Route 280 generally flies, usually even during rush hours. Anything in Essex west of the Parkway would fulfill your criteria except southern Bloomfield, Orange, East Orange, Irvington, far eastern Maplewood, Newark. Also, South Orange just got socked with a tax re-revaluation that has resulted in sky-high taxes (even for NJ), so I'd pass them by as well. Hope this helps.

Your question is way too general. Everyone wants safe town with good schools and easy commute to the city. You need to be more specific. At the very least, specify how long you want your commute to be and what's your approximate price range. I can spend hours talking about parts of Bergen County and how great it is. But if your budget is $400K max, then I just wasted my time because to get anything decent in this area, you need to spend at least $600K. Help us help you (sorry, couldn't resist :-))

I thought you wanted a farm...

Anyway, both your threads are pointless if you refuse to give an idea of budget.

Yes I am interested in buying land not a farm. I want land to have as agricultural use but do not intend to live there.
I am wanting to know where I can actually live, since My job is located in manhattan but I want to live in NJ not too far from the nyc area.
I appreciate the help, thank you.

Usually if the public schools are high rated the communities are safe and relatively expensive. And mainly white, with sprinkings of other races.
