thats fine, its just when a beer snob tells me my bud lite is crap i will return fire. i dont care much to defend budlite but its obnoxious for someone to say its water like i care.

I am quite serious.

Bud Lite is actually LITERALLY watered down beer.

It is a low quality rice recipe that has water added in the end to make it "lite".

I do not consider something like that as a fair representation of what we brought over here from the Germans.

well, i dont like staying at home. i like to go out to eat a meal. when i cook for myself its baked chicken breast and pasta with tomato sauce. i enjoy going out for a meal and if im with people we can stick around for a couple of drinks. however, traveling into manhattan to pay $14 a drink so i can stand there and not hear the people i went to meet up with is a waste to me.
Then you are going to the wrong places, again.

You exaggerate to validate your point and go WAY off the deep end. Like I said, you and your friends were not smart going to a Trend-Set bar. They are not selling you beer, they are selling you glam.

My general rule is if I can buy a 6 for the price of a drink somewhere, it just isn't worth it. So, many places, some dives some not, can be had for cheaper.

Rudy's, for example, gives out free hot dogs as you sit having pitchers of red ale or lager for under $10. Blarney Stone (one of many different places) on 3rd avenue up near 44th street has 22oz beers for $5.

That pizza place I mentioned has Anchor Steam for, I believe, $14 a PITCHER, not a glass.

You have to go to places like newyork.citysearch.com and find a place YOU would like to go to rather than following what a bunch of other people that don't know NY any better than what they have seen on COPS and Sex in the City.

Quote:
standing is some goofball place with 30 beers on tap and idiots sitting around thinking that its so wonderful that they have 30 beers on tap would annoy me.
Nah, not if you had some. It is one of the most down to earth crowds there. And the fact they let you taste before you buy is nice too. Some beers being stronger and more flavorful than others, and some being simply light and crisp. A lot brewed from right around NYC as well (6 point brewery and Brooklyn being two of them).

So before you start saying "Hey, all of NY sucks so therefore anyplace you recommend can't be right", ST hell U and visit someplace different.

Then stop drinking it.

why would i go to manhattan to be in a place where they offer free hot dogs with a pitcher?
Um, no, the free hot dogs are FREE. You don't need a pitcher. Re-read my post and stop putting your words and conditions in there to justify your conclusions.

Quote:
do you live in manhattan? it takes me an hour to get there, if i want hot dogs and a $14 pitcher i figure i should go to brooklyn where the jack asses im meeting actually live. ill pay $14 a drink but i want a $14 a drink experience. maybe free HJ's or ZJ's with every 5th drink.
Um, you are trying to validate strip clubs over bars in NYC?

Real class. Bud lite and strippers and you are supposed to be someone people listen to when it comes to Nite Life?

Quote:
i dont think i would say all of NY sucks. what i generally say is that nothing in NYC is worth the trip there and the headache that generally comes with driving into the city.
Some of us don't have to drive. Some of us work there and commute. And SOME of us live close enough they can just hop on the bus/PATH any time, day or night, any day and be in the city in less than 30 minutes.

Saying that the trip is not worth it does not make NYC a place that is not worth seeing or going to.

haha i like how you try to verbalize your boredom with this by writing yawn. yet, you have been responding throughout this conversation with multiple quotes. if you are really yawning, just dont respond.

That is like saying "If you really don't like it, get out."

The two are not mutually exclusive. Yuo can be bored with something and still keep contributing.

Basically what I was saying is that you keep saying you hate NY, blah, blah, blah. Everyone gets it. You hate it. YOU don't like driving in. YOU don't like beer.

Great. I tried being friendly and recommend some better places to go in the city and your only response was that you liked strip clubs (in so many words). It just is not fun conversing with you sometimes.

The ">yawn<" was knid of a clue that I may not be the only one that finds your endless "suffering" in your many trips to NYC as a viable conversation topic on a post that is supposed to be about Hoboken.

So, is there anythnig POSITIVE you wnat to add? Any place in Hoboken or the area you have LIKED or would recommend going TO (rather than staying away from?).

Telling people, repeatedly, that you do not like $14 drinks isn't going to help much. Few people do. What else ya got that can HELP peopel enjoy themselves besides avoiding the area as a whole?

i did appreciate the suggestions, unfortunately they are not useful to me. its good that you try to help by offering places you like, but i think we have different preferences.

when i was in hoboken this past weekend we had lunch at a mexican place called charritos. my brother likes to go on dates there. we had yummy guacamole made tableside and some sangria they made from wine we brought (not for me but nice for other people). i liked the food a lot and would recommend it highly. we ate outside because i had my dog. she laid down under the table with her head sticking out onto the sidewalk so people can notice her. i have attached a picture below.

it was actually a good $14 drink but still not worth $14. they used bombay saphire which is probably not what i usually get and i liked it more than my typical gin and tonic.
