Default Family needing to be close to Jackson, NJ and Pt Pleasant, NJ - where should we move?

Hi all: I guess the title says it all. Our family is moving to South Jersey this summer and hubby will be working in Jackson & Pt Pleasant. We are now looking at places to live - any advice for great family-friendly towns? It'd be great to be close to the Parkway as we have family in Montclair and central NJ. We'd greatly appreciate any advice! Thanks so much!

Well, how about Pt. Pleasant Borough itself? It's a very family-friendly town with tons of great people living there. There are tons of activities for kids (the town thrives on it) and they have lots of great events at Community Park and the new park on the Manasquan River. The Parkway is about 10 minutes away at either exit 98 or 90, depending which one you want to get on at.

As for other local towns that will fit your bill, Brick Township is decent, but very large and has less of a small-town feel. Howell, while not as large as Brick in population, is physically large and a bit more rural. Howell is a farther drive to the beach, however it is pretty much smack in the middle between Pt. Pleasant and Jackson. Wall Township would work as well - it's a larger community but still retains a small-town feel and is very family-friendly. It's a bit pricier than Howell and Brick, however. Wall (generally) would be closest to the Parkway at Exit 98.
