I miss snow days from school and having snow fights w/ my brothers and my mom yelling at us to come get a cup of hot chocolate and to get rid of our wet clothes before we catch a cold. Yeah, that's what I miss.

I remember that there were two, I think, in Wayne? Right across from each other. One serving fresh cinnamon donuts and apple cider (before pasteurization cooked all the flavor out of it). I think they took one out and made it into condos or something. Now you have to drive an hour out to go to a farm and pay more to pick your own than you would get it at the store.
Sad sad stuff.
BTW, I was driving through Pompton the other day and thought I missed the Dairy Barn! I guess they did get rid of it... I wonder why.

Abma's is still there. Dairy Barn is gone, sadly.

What a great topic...it's like walking down memory lane. ~sniff~
I miss Geigers restaurant on Springfield Avenue Westfield -- after eating dinner we'd walk through the store and purchase apples and apple pie. It became B.G. Fields and they are also closed (they had good shnitzel right down to the egg and capers).
I miss all the farms and how kitschy Route 1 used to be (giant chairs and bowling pins). How about Chock Full O' Nuts on Route 1 around Woodbridge? The toilet seats used to close and glow blue, supposed to sanitize them, even though they still were dirty. But what a cute building and great coffee.
It was great to be a kid in NJ during the 60s. Friendly, safe. We'd go away for the weekend and leave our house unlocked.

WOW - your post brought back memories - first I did not know there was an Arcadian Gardens in Menlo, I used to go to the one in Garden State Mall when I was a kid.
I liked all of those Woodbridge Center Stores... I remember the Paper Tiger WELL! Do you know what else I miss from there, the restaurant "The Tree House" we used to go there all the time and I loved it.
I also miss Sterling Forrest, Jungle Habitat and GA. It will ALWAYS be GA.

I think the only movies I saw there were 2001 and the remake of King Kong. That Lowes had the grand feel of a great, old timey theater. Almost like you should dress up a little classier to see a movie there.

Exactly! When I was little in the 70's they used to have a summer festival of Disney movies (Dumbo, Cinderella, Jungle Book, etc..) remember, this was the days of no VCRs or DVDs so it was a HUGE treat. And you felt like you were royalty going there.
