That's the thing CNJ, you DON'T have to take it all like that. They would like to make you think that the two are inseperable, but they arent, and if people took the extra time to take a look at EXACTLY where the money was going, rather than at the check after the meal, you will see that the Admins were the ones that had the Lobster and the bottle of expensive wine!

if walmart ran the government things would be much better.
I don't think there should be a fee for extracurricular activities, as in many cases they are another form of education. Many sports teams especially are having trouble fielding full teams, making the kids pay for it certainly isn't going to help matters.
So by charging those who participate it creates yet another class system with in the schools
The haves and the have nots which has no place in the schools ( one of the strongest arguments for uniforms imo)
Can they cut some of the really inane stuff...sure..but sports, clubs is imo part of the overall picture of raising kids to be responsible adults and I don't think any kid who wants to participate should have to worry about not be able to do so because his parents can't afford it.
Some of these programs in urban areas is the difference between good kids and becoming a hoodlum
There is lots and lots of room in the admin part of schools to cut the fat and save $$$$$
I don't see extracurricular activites as a bad thing. In lean times though, they are going to get cut. I know that the children I know in such activities/sports have to do A LOT of fundraising. They do work really hard at raising money for their teams/clubs and I don't see a problem w/ that... in fact I think it builds character getting them to work for what they are doing.
I don't think it's a bad thing to charge nominal fees, but I think there should be a clause that IF the child/family truly can not afford it, there should be funds for this. I know they have a stipulation like this in my children's private school... for field trips and other activities... no child won't be included because they can't afford it.

Um, no.
They would outsource to India, only hire people in at slightly above minimum for 39.5 hours of "part time" work, and convince everyone that they were better than sliced bread.

Walmart is the devil.
walmart is the man. they would operate government much more efficiently and cut our taxes to ridiculously low levels.
No, it would do so at the expense of the people it was "providing" for. Driving out all other jobs. It is the Capitalistic socialist machine and you know it!
