Adult Communities
Hello all,
I am looking for feedback on adult communities (55+ active lifestyle) in the Ocean/Monmouth Counties. Not opposed to more southern Jersey communities either.
While I'm not ready now to move right now, I am ready to explore. Might be able to move in a year or two, depending upon the economy.
Would like to know the positive and negatives of living in such a community. Right now own a house but it's becoming too much work to maintain. Like the idea of becoming part of a community and being able to making friends more easily because of a clubhouse.
Would still have to work for another 6-10 years thus Ocean county would be the furthest south now because of commuting.
As a single woman, is it difficult to move into such a community?
Thank you,

My mother moved into Holiday City in Toms River a few years ago and she loves it. The exterior of the house is aluminum siding (so nothing to paint), and the association maintains the grass. She has to tend to her planting beds, but that's all. The neighborhood is very quiet, the pool is nice, and the neighbors seem friendly enough.

my mother in law (single) recently moved into a 55+ in Marlboro. can't remember the name of the place, but it's off of wyndcrest rd. so far she has found everyone there to be very friendly, and she is enjoying herself so far.
it has a great clubhouse, pool etc.

Hi,
Glad to hear that your mom didn't have any problems adjusting.
My concern is that I would be the youngest person.
Are most people in the their 60s or older?
Of course at the rate I'm moving, may be the oldest to move in! LOL

i think if you are looking at new construction, or a newer development, people there tend to be younger.
the older the development, the older the people for the most part i think.
